Satellite pictureEach EU citizen is responsible for 11 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year, out of which close to 9 tonnes are emissions of CO2. Altogether the EU is responsible for around 14% of all GHG emmisions worldwide.

The ‘You Control Climate Change‘ programme the European Commission provides information on how you can reduce your carbon footprint. Students and teachers are invited to sign a pledge, either individually or collectively, to reduce their CO2 emissions by making small changes to their daily behaviour.

Reducing the temperature by just 1°C avoids an average of 300kg of CO2 per household and year. 50 and more tips are collected along with resources for pupils, teachers and individuals in all european languages.
