Though presenting warmest year on record for US most surprising sentence in the 2006 report from National Climatic Data Center is this one:
A contributing factor to the unusually warm temperatures throughout 2006 also is the long-term warming trend,
which has been linked to increases in greenhouse gases.
It looks like climate is changing for US in both senses.
