Within 36 hours Milenyo - international codename Xangsane - grew from a tropical depression to a typhoon with gusts up to 240 km/h. He crossed the northern Philippines on Thursday, left six provinces - 43 million people - without electricity and killed at least eleven people. About 5500 people fled their homes, Crops and fruit trees worth $1.19 million had been destroyed.

Now Milenyo is heading west toward Vietnam at 22 km/h with gusts of up to 140 km/h.
